Avant + Garde Dance Company values leadership and commitment to the craft of dance. Each year, the directors hand select one student who exemplifies the A+GDC mission and it’s values. This year the directors selected Breana a wonderful dancer, and a great leader to her peers.
Jamie Anderson, McHenry County College
This year Jamie Anderson is so excited to be leaping into her 6th year of dancing! Jamie has found much passion and light through this amazing art of expressive movement.
Aside from dance, Jamie is very involved in 4-H. 4-H has provided her with many opportunities and skills that have helped shape who she is today. Archery, air rifle, dog training, public speaking, and community service are just a few of the things that Jamie has found passions for thanks to the 4-H program.
She currently holds the rank of second degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, and along those lines, in the past, she has also really found peace and enjoyment in doing weapons training and Tai chi as well.
After graduating from her homeschool class of twelve students in may 2018 she has been forced up into the big leagues… that’s right, McHenry County College!
Jamie plans on getting her Associates of Arts degree and then transfer to a four year school in order to pursue her dream of becoming a trial lawyer. Dance is always going to be a very important part of Jamie’s life. She is very excited for the 2018/2019 season and for all that it will teach her.
